CARTHAGE, Ill.--Actor Richard Garey combines his passion as an actor, skill as a storyteller and expertise as a researcher and writer to bring the role of Mark Twain and Twain’s writings to life in “Mark Twain on Slavery”. Twain tells of his experiences and characters that shaped his understanding of slavery from his days in Hannibal, Mo., to his time in Connecticut.
Garey has been acting for about 40 years and established Heritage Stage Productions in Hannibal in 2002. He writes or compiles all of his shows, taking great pride in their historical accuracy.
The show will start at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Sandburg Auditorium, 1160 Buchanan St., in Carthage.
The program is free to Carl Sandburg College students, faculty and staff. Tickets for the public are $5 and can be purchased in advance at the Branch Campus in Carthage from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by calling 217.357.3129 ext. 0.
