GALESBURG, Ill.--The annual Lake Storey Clean Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 20, 2012 and volunteers are being asked to help clean up the shoreline.
Lake Storey is drawn down each fall to help grow the fish population. The low water level provides an excellent opportunity to pick up the trash and debris that has accumulated along the shore.
Volunteers are asked to meet at 8:00 a.m. at the warming shelter near the east boat ramp directly off Henderson Street /US Rte. 150. Trash will be picked up along the shoreline of Lake Storey until noon. Volunteers are asked to wear boots or hard soled shoes. The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce will furnish gloves and trash picking tools and the Knox County Landfill will provide a dumpster. In addition, trash bags and refreshments will also be provided to volunteers.
