GALESBURG, Ill - Since 1987, the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) has presented the Illinois Governor's Sustainability Award to organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through outstanding and innovative sustainability practices. This year five Galesburg area businesses were also nominated by the EBI Network. Among the nominees were Lamboo, Inc., Intellihot green technologies, Inc., CrossFire, LLC, the Sustainable Business Center (SBC), and Allen Environmental, Inc.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — Yesterday the Illinois Senate passed the Clean Water Funding Fairness Act (HB 5642), ending the livestock industry’s unique exemption from paying fees for their Clean Water Act permits. Representative Tryon (Crystal Lake) and Senator Frerichs (Champaign) became the bill’s sponsors after being asked to do so by Illinois’ environmental community.

GALESBURG, Ill -- With the 'Grow Local' food movement gaining popularity among consumers and food establishments, and the desire for a year round supply of locally grown food in many communities, Galesburg's EBI Network has been researching the viability of aquaponically grown foods as a commercially viable business opportunity for the Galesburg/West Central Illinois Region.  Gary Camarano, the EBI Network's Global strategies Director recently visited 312 Aquaponics, a leader in Chicago's aquaponic food industry, to get some ideas and answers about the viability of an aquaponic food industry cluster in the region.

City celebrates Arbor Day

City celebrates Arbor Day

GALESBURG, Ill – The city of Galesburg Tree Commission will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 27, 2012 by planting two trees at 11:00 a.m. at Bateman Park located at Losey and Clark Streets in Galesburg.  Tree Commission members will be present along with Churchill Jr. High students and other city officials. The public is invited to attend.
