Medical marijuana gains support in Illinois

Medical marijuana has gained the support of many, including Illinois’ Lieutenant Governor.

Sheila Simon said she wasn’t originally in support of a bill legalizing medicinal marijuana in Illinois. After hearing from people with illnesses, Simon changed her mind, according to a report by the Q.C. Times.

The proposal allows doctors to prescribe up to 2.5-ounces of medical marijuana for patients who are terminally ill or have medical conditions.

The bill has passed in the Illinois House and is awaiting approval in the Senate.

Poll ranks Iowa among least-stressed states

Iowa residents are among the people who feel the least stressed in the U.S.

That’s according to Gallup’s Wellbeing poll results issued this week.

Nationwide, 40.6% of Americans polled reported feeling stressed the day prior to answering the poll.  In Iowa, 38.1% reported feeling stressed the previous day.

That makes Iowa the state with the fourth-lowest stress level in the country.

Other low-stress states included Mississippi and Louisiana.  Hawaii reported the lowest percentage of respondents saying they felt stress the previous day.

The study ranks Illinois the 28th least-stressed state.

The five most-stressed states were Massachusetts, Utah, Kentucky, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
