GALESBURG -- Knox College will celebrate the installation of Teresa Amott as 19th president of Knox College with a formal ceremony on the Knox campus, community service activities at non-profit agencies around Galesburg, and a series of events highlighting student achievement in scholarship and creative work.

Knox College Announces 2012 Commencement Speaker, Honorary Degrees

GALESBURG -- Knox College announced today that Brigadier General Mark Martins, Chief Prosecutor of the war crimes trial system reformed by the Military Commissions Act of 2009, will deliver the Commencement Address to the Class of 2012. Honorary degrees will be conferred on General Martins; Sir Andrew Davis, Music Director and Principal Conductor of Lyric Opera of Chicago; and Joseph S. Francisco, William E. Moore Distinguished Professor of Physical Chemistry at Purdue University.

Festival for the Mind: FREE events tap your inner intellectual

GALESBURG, Ill – A kickoff concert, writer’s workshop, panel discussions, and lectures will be featured at the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site at 313 E. Third Street in Galesburg during the annual Sandburg Days “Festival for the Mind” in the community April 18 - 21.  All events at the Sandburg site are free and open to the public.

AVON, Ill – On Tuesday, April 3rd, at the meeting of the Avon District 176 School Board meeting, the board unanimously voted to merge their school district with Abingdon.

Merging into the Future ‘11:  Biennial High School Exhibition

GALESBURG, Ill – From Friday, April 13th through Saturday, April 28th the Galesburg High School advanced art students will have their work on display at the Galesburg Civic Art Center.  This much anticipated show includes oils, pastels, drawings, watercolors, pencils, computer art, ceramics and sculpture.  The exhibition is sponsored in part by Ladner Orthodontics, LTD.
